The  Centre for Male Reproduction and Fertility  is a Melbourne clinical centre which provides specialist medical services dedicated to the investigation and treatment of male infertility and other male reproductive health issues.

The  Centre for Male Reproduction and Fertility  allows patients to be seen by Dr Barak a male fertility specialist for a wide-ranging investigation and tailored treatment plans such as lifestyle intervention, varicocele embolization (including follow up surveillance of sperm quality/DNA Fragmentation), second opinion for IVF outcome (embolization in view of improving sperm quality), vasectomy reversal and other urological procedures such as open testicular biopsy, microdissection.

Dr Shlomi Barak  – Fertility Specialist, Male Infertility Specialist and  Andrologist



Dr Shlomi Barak MD FRANZCOG

Dr Shlomi Barak is a gynaecologist, fertility and IVF specialist who is a highly regarded expert in the field of male infertility. An Israeli – Australian fellowship trained surgeon, Dr Barak is an active member in professional associations worldwide.

Dr Barak is a fellow of The Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG). Dr Barak holds a public appointment at Reproductive Services at The Royal Women’s Hospital where he is a consultant IVF and Andrology and male infertility specialist and is involved in the supervision of trainee obstetricians, gynaecologists and fertility specialists.

Dr Barak has a strong background in research. Over the past 16 years he has been actively involved in both basic and clinical research in the area of reproductive medicine and has published widely in scientific and medical journals in this area. Dr Barak contributed to few high profile book titles in the area of male infertility. He regularly presents at national and international medical conferences.

Dr Barak’s private practice in East Melbourne and Wyndham Private in Werribee focuses on the investigation and treatment of both female and male infertility. He provides a full range of reproductive services, which include:

  • Reproductive endocrinology, infertility and IVF
  • Andrology and male infertility
  • Gynaecological endoscopic surgery and microsurgery


Barry Leaney  – Interventional Radiologist



Barry Leaney is a practicing radiologist in Melbourne since 1987,initially as a partner in the Victorian imaging group and subsequently working for Imed ,Australia.Have had broad experience in interventional radiology both during training at the Royal Melbourne hospital and then as the director of radiology for eastern health, serving in this position at Box Hill Hospital for 8 years. More recently have been based at Epworth Eastern hospital where myself and colleagues    provide a broad range of interventional services. Box Hill Radiology ,positioned in the ground floor of Epworth Eastern also provides a comprehensive imaging service, including ultrasound ,CT scanning ,3T MRI scanning and PET scanning.


Andrew Troy – Urologist

Andrew completed his medical training at The University of Melbourne and after undertaking basic surgical training at Royal Melbourne Hospital he was accepted onto the Victorian Urology training programme completing this in 2000.  Subsequently he undertook a fellowship in Endourology at the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh. During that time he gained extensive experience in laparoscopy, flexible ureteroscopy, percutaneous renal surgery and lithotripsy. He has since traveled to Seattle for training in prostate Brachytherapy and California for training on the Da Vinci Robot.

He is director of Endourology at the Austin Hospital.  His private practice is based at the Epworth Freemasons Hospital in East Melbourne.


He is a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and a member of the Urological Society of Australia and New Zealand, the British Association of Urological Surgeons, The Endourology Society and the Society Internationale Urologie. Andrew is a past Chairman of Victorian Committee of the Urological Society of Australia and New Zealand and also its representative on the state council of the AMA.

He practices in all areas of urology but has a special interests include:

  • Vasectomy Reversal
  • Prostate cancer treatment – Robotic Radical Prostatectomy, Brachytherapy, Active surveillance.
  • Treatment of enlarged prostate – TURP, GreenLight Laser.
  • Treatment of kidney and ureteric stones – Laser, Shock Wave Lithotripsy, PCNL


Sarah Calleja – Counselling Psychologist and Clinical Sexologist


Sarah Calleja is a Counselling Psychologist and Clinical Sexologist, author and app developer who brings maturity, openness and genuine empathy to her work with clients to help them ‘best manage’ their emotions; life traumas, and sexual and relationships issues.

Sarah welcomes clients from diverse backgrounds many of whom may be eligible to claim Medicare rebates to help them to best manage their therapeutic goals.

Sarah is a respected media consultant who is regularly invited to comment on a diverse range of issues across all traditional and online media platforms.

As a trainer, Sarah has presented at International; National and State conferences, and conducts training seminars on sexual therapy. Sarah is invited by schools to conduct workshops for teachers and parents to empower students’ self advocacy. Sarah enjoys speaking at charity events to raise money for worthwhile projects.

Her first book “give it a go girl!” deals with the complex transition from primary to secondary school. Sarah developed the iPad app ‘Parents, Tweens and Sex’ in collaboration with Swinburne University, as a unique tool to help parents and tweens share their personal values and ethics around confronting sexual issues.

Sarah is also a wife, mother, mentor, friend and the proud owner of laugh lines!


Brendan MouattAccredited Exercise Physiologist



Brendan Mouatt is an accredited Exercise Physiologist with a Masters of Exercise Physiology and many years experience working with reproductive health. Through his current research and clinical experience with improving IVF success through lifestyle and exercise interventions he has developed a strong relationship with the Centre for Male reproduction and Fertility.

Brendan’s services may attract a medicare rebate for clients referred by general practitioner or under private health cover extras.

Brendan also specialises in musculoskeletal injuries, spine pain and lifestyle change to ensure exercise is safely and effectively used to achieve your fertility and health outcomes.
